  • There are 15 high schools in our district, District 12, that bring events to compete against each other.
  • Each category will have a separate room to compete in.  Each room will have 2-3 judges.
  • Each performance is rated Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor by our judges (the average of their three scores is the overall score).
  • An event must have a Superior rating to compete at the state level.
  • Judges in each room will decide the best performance from their room and make that the “Critics Choice”. The runner up for the room will be awarded “Honorable Mention”.
  • Each event that receives a critics choice will then perform at the end of the night for the entire district at our closing ceremonies.
  • One of the critics choice will be selected to represent District 12 in the Opening Ceremonies at state!

NOTE – Students are welcome to attend districts as an observer, timekeeper or doorkeeper, but must PERFORM at districts in order to attend our state festival.  Observers, and ONLY doing timekeeping or doorkeeping duties at districts, can NOT attend state.

For more information, and critique sheets, check out the Florida Thespians webpage.
